Shadow Deprecation Notice

Progress DataDirect strives to deliver the highest value products  with the most up-to-date technology available. The newest release of Progress DataDirect Shadow, release 7.4, was made generally available starting on December 16, 2011. This release includes a new DataDirect Shadow Server, which is the z/OS  resident portion of the product, and is a required component for the following  products:

• DataDirect Shadow z/Direct
• DataDirect Shadow z/Services
• DataDirect Shadow z/Events
• DataDirect Shadow z/Presentation

Our Support Policy

Progress DataDirect policy is to provide support for the latest release of our products and the immediately prior release. For the Shadow products we generally make an exception and provide some additional time for customers to migrate off of the -2 release. Please refer to the following table for the specific End of Support dates.

This notice is specific to DataDirect Shadow Server v6.1. Progress DataDirect will continue to support  release 6.1 of the Progress DataDirect Shadow for ODBC drivers and the Progress  DataDirect Shadow for JDBC drivers (the “Drivers”).  We have no plans at this time to discontinue support for release 6.1 of  the Drivers and will provide a minimum  12 month advance notice prior to discontinuing support. You may continue to use v6.1 Drivers with DataDirect  Shadow Server v 7.2 and v7.3, although v7.2 or v7.3 drivers are required to exploit certain new  features. For additional information on these new  features, we recommend you review the DataDirect Shadow product documentation,  which is available from the Support section of the Progress DataDirect website.

To assist in your release planning, please refer to the  following table to determine the anticipated dates on which support is to be withdrawn for a  specific DataDirect product release. This  document does not address future product plans.  Please be advised that this information is subject to change by Progress  DataDirect without notice.

**Shadow OCA-Commit will be supported for IDMS V15 and  below. IDMS V16 has two-phase commit supported included with the product.
